Pastor Cheryl did some serious preaching this Sunday!!!

Luke 7:11-16a

The beauty of this passage is that Pastor clearly makes a point that if you have JOY, your dead situation will become Alive!

I also like this passage, because it provides us yet another example of Jesus having compassion on women left alone. Though in this story it may be due to death of the only son, it may be due to death or departure of a daughter, death or departure of a husband... or, of other close family members.

We also see this case of compassion on 'women who are suddenly alone' when Jesus was on the cross. Jesus' LAST action was to identify someone who would look after this mother so that she would not be left alone.

What do stories like these illustrate to us? What lessons can we learn from this as mothers, fathers, sons and daughters? What should young ladies (prospective wives/mothers) and young men (prospective husbands/fathers) expect of one another? What should they expect out of the relationships with their mothers, and even fathers?
